Your Life! Did you know that you can easily set up direct payments from most banks to St. Andrew’s? You can set up regular, recurring payments for your annual pledge, and leave your checkbook at home on Sundays. Also, you can make one-time donations for special purposes (Mississippi Hurricane Relief, Capital Campaign, Bishops Appeal, etc.). If you already pay bills on-line, you know how convenient it can be. If you bank with Bank of America (our church’s bank), there are no fees involved with their on-line “Bill Pay” service – St. Andrew’s receives 100% of the amount transferred. The money is deposited directly into the church’s account, and a confirmation e-mail specifying the donor and the amount is sent to the church office for Ruth to record. We have tried this out and it works very well. Note: Some other banks may charge small fees (typically $3) for transfers to Bank of America. Here’s how to set up St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church as a payee with Bank of America’s online Bill Pay service – other banks typically have similar online payment services. First, log into your online banking web site (you might have to register if you are a first-time user). In the main menu, select “Bill Pay & e-Bills” (or similar for other banks). Then select “Add a Payee” and enter the following information: Payee Name: St. Andrew’s
Episcopal Church (Your pledge number appears as your “Envelope” number on your quarterly statement. You can call Ruth at 781-235-7310 if you need your pledge number.) That sets up our church as a payee. Then you can click on the appropriate links to initiate a one-time payment from your checking or savings account to the church – you just specify an amount, which account to withdraw from, and payment date. You can click on the “Add memo” link to specify what this donation is for. To set up recurring payments you must specify first payment date, payment amount, payment frequency (e.g. weekly, monthly, every 3 months, etc.), and when to stop payments (you can specify, “Until changed or canceled.”) This payment method is completely optional. You can continue to place pledge envelopes in the collection plates if you wish (empty or with a note saying you gave on-line). Note that regular, recurring payments help the church maintain a healthy cash flow, especially useful during the summer months when attendance is lower. Questions?
