St. Stephen's Food Pantry--Volunteers Needed
We need some new volunteers for the Food Panty at St. Stephen's.
The primary need is for people who can drive into St. Stephen's and help distribute food on Thursday mornings, 9:00 a. m. to noon. You could be working with an experienced partner.
We could also use more people to pick up bread and pastries from BJ's Wholesale and deliver them to St. Stephen's on Thursday mornings. This could be done before your workday starts. |
Finally, we could use some more helpers on an "as needed" basis for tasks such as bagging rice, bringing in and sorting food from two to three drives each year, making up bags of meal ingredients each Thanksgiving and Easter, and taking food into St. Stephen's. These are tasks done on weekends.
If you can help, please contact Jim Peters at 781-237-3848 or Ralph West at 781-431-1941. The work is fun, rewarding and
companiable. |
Calling All Acolytes (and their parents)
All 7th through 12th graders who wish to be acolytes should call Daniel Viggiani at the parish office (781-235-7310).
There is room on some regular teams for new acolytes and 7th graders are needed for the fifth Sundays. It is a great way to help St. Andrew's.
Sunday Greeters
A wonderful way to say hello to old friends and newcomers at St. Andrew's is to greet them before the Sunday 10 am service. We encourage individuals, couples and families (especially for the All Parish Eucharist on the third Sunday of each month) to sign-up for this important role. The new Greeter Board for sign-up is located on the stair landing at the Denton Road entrance. You will receive a reminder call a few days in advance. On the Sunday you are greeting, please arrive at the church Narthex by 9:45 am. Help us to extend a warm welcome to St. Andrew's and sign-up soon for a Sunday this fall. If you have any questions, call Lynne Tirrell, Membership Chair at 781-235-2779.
Ushering
Service at St. Andrew's includes ushering at all Sunday and special holiday services. All are welcome to consider helping out as an usher one Sunday per month. If you would like to join an ushering crew, please contact Adams Carroll at 508-653-1545 at your earliest convenience. You can also serve as an "alternate", i.e. help out when regular ushers cannot make their appointed Sunday.
Lay Liturgical Ministers
Are you interested in coming a Chalice Bearer or Lay Reader? Though St. Andrew's has a strong group of Chalice Bearers and Lay Readers, we are always willing to add more if you would like to serve the church through this participation in the Sunday services. Training is easy and fast. Please call Julie Carson at 781-235-7310 to learn more about these ministries.
Office Volunteers
Experience the "nuts and bolts" aspect of the Parish Office by volunteering your time and talent to help answer phones, assemble mailings, using the copier and folding machines, and in general, assisting the Parish Secretary in her varied duties. If you are interested, call Janet Ellis, Office Volunteer Coordinator, at 781-237-0665 or Rose Erler in the Parish Office at 781-235-7310. Many new friendships are made while sitting across the table from one another, working on a parish mailing!!!
For the Many to Bear the Burden of the Few- Providing Meals for St. Andrew's Parishioners
Here at St. Andrew's our community is rich in both outreach and inreach programs. We have, during the past year, endeavored to feed the flock in another way: to provide food for those experiencing short-term crisis. How can you help? Please call and give us your name and telephone number and how many times a year you could provide a meal for a parish family in temporary need.
Call the parish office (781-235-7310) if you would like to
help.
